Abstract

Borewell accidents, particularly involving children, remain a recurring and life-threatening issue in many rural areas. Narrow, deep, and often uncovered borewells pose significant risks, and traditional rescue techniques are slow, dangerous, and resource-intensive. This paper presents the Borewell Rescuers project, a technologically advanced system designed to enhance the speed, safety, and efficiency of borewell rescue operations. The proposed solution integrates real-time monitoring, communication systems, environmental sensors, an inflatable descent-prevention mechanism, and a hydraulic hand for secure extraction. By combining robotics, sensor integration, and mechanical precision, this project offers a scalable and cost-effective method for addressing borewell emergencies. The system’s adaptability to various borewell dimensions and conditions provides a promising step toward reducing casualties, minimizing rescue time, and enhancing rural safety measures. This research emphasizes the importance of proactive engineering solutions for disaster response and highlights opportunities for future innovation in life-saving interventions.
